WELCOME TO THE GREATER LOS ANGELES CHAPTER

OF CHILDHELP

GREATER LOS ANGELES CHAPTER POLICIES

The name of the chapter shall be the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of Childhelp.  The exclusive and specified purpose for which this chapter is chartered is to assist Childhelp in meeting the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of abused and neglected children as it focuses its efforts and resources on the areas of treatment, prevention, and advocacy.

MEMBERSHIP

1.  Any person who subscribes to our purpose and is prepared to pay annual dues may apply for membership in this Chapter.  Currently, annual dues are $75 individual, $100 Family, $25 Student, $250 Corporate, and $1500 Lifetime.  See Chapter Bylaws for further details.

2. Annual membership dues remain with the Chapter as the Operating Fund to be used for Chapter expenses such as, but not limited to, printing and postage; greetings for birthdays, illness or condolence; small gifts for guest speakers; the new member tea or brunch; the end-of-the-year Board gathering; and any additional expenses incurred for the benefit of the Chapter.

3. Chapter Bylaws and L.A. Chapter Policies shall accompany each membership application and shall be included in each membership roster.

4. The Membership Chair shall arrange an annual new member gathering to include new or prospective members, their sponsors, the Board, and the Regional Director of Chapters.

5.  New members of Active status must be in good standing and actively involved in Chapter activities for at least one year before being considered for a position on the Board.  As with all Board positions, the term is one year with the possibility of re-election for one additional consecutive term.

6.  Chapter luncheon meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, September through June, lasting one-and-a-half to two hours.  Each member is responsible for covering the cost of their meal.  Staying for lunch is not required.

CHAPTER BOARD

1. The fee for annual membership shall be determined by the Chapter Board.

2. The Board may hold a luncheon at the end of each Childhelp year (June) as an acknowledgement for their service.  Funding for this event will be provided by the Operating Fund. 

ALTRUISTIC

1. Birthday cards shall be sent each month to members by the Altruistic Chair.

2. The Chair shall send flowers to any member who becomes hospitalized. A get-well or other appropriate card will be sent to those who are ill or injured but not hospitalized. Flowers or other appropriate condolence shall be sent to the family of any member who is deceased. 

FUNDRAISING

1.  The event chair shall review the Bylaws, Section III. Event Overview, for guidelines, protocol, and additional event planning procedures.

2. Each Chapter member shall purchase or sell a minimum of one ticket to the Chapter's main fundraising event each year,or make a donation in the equivalent amount.

3. PRIOR to any expenditures, the event chair shall prepare a budget for review and approval by the Chapter Board, then submit to the Regional Director for review.  The net profit for any event should not be less than 51 percent.

4.  PRIOR to signing, all contracts (venue, entertainment, technical services, and all others) MUST be submitted to the Regional Director for review and approval by the Corporate Attorney.

5.  Within 30 days following an event, schedule a post event evaluation ("post mortem") with the committee to determine what guests enjoyed and to identify areas where there is room for improvement.

SWEETHEART LUNCHEON

1.  Individuals who have made significant contributions to Childhelp's mission of meeting the needs of abused and neglected children are honored at our Sweetheart Luncheon, held the second Thursday of each February.

2. Chapter members may be considered for selection as the honoree at the annual Sweetheart Luncheon.

3. Past presidents shall be acknowledged at that luncheon.
